Harp Club and Cauldron - upcoming collection on the Dagda

Delighted to be invited to contribute to Harp Club Cauldron, an exciting and expertly curated collection of writing on the Dagda. As a feminist and poet, my contribution will address the intersection of Faith, Imbas and Science, in the magical, spiritual and creative tradition of our landscape.
Publishers Eel&Otter Press hope to present this collection in 2018 and have launched a funding campaign. The project boasts Lora O'Brien and Morpheus Ravenna at the helm and the contributors include an impressive array of scholarly and creative voices.

Books can be pre-ordered at the link below; and rewards for backers of the project are excellent, including access to the creative process, being listed in the book as backers, beautiful artwork and more

I have been neglecting you my pretties....#blog #update #poetry #amwriting #poems #ireland

Yes my loves I have been neglecting you all but there's been a reason for that - life. Busy life, gods help us. Since I last posted I have - in no particular order - been working on my first collection; had a poem published in Gods and Radicals; hosted the Creative Workshop evening at the Harold's Cross Festival and signed up to contribute to an exciting new project or three. Three, in fact.
And that's on top of my usual life.
But with a bit of hard work and luck I might be ready for publication this year; I shall definitely be writing with the incredibly talented Gina Bass; and I'll be in a few bits and pieces coming up over the next few months, I'll keep ye posted.

Deciding on poems for inclusion and publication has been a long slow process - there's also a lot of editorial decisions to be made about the tone and direction of the collection and these are hard choices. I think the end result will be worth it though, I hope so :)

And I won't be so neglectful in future I promise. Thanks for the comments, PMs and emails - it' makes the lonely slog more worthwhile!

January 20th, A Poem. #womensmarch #inauguration #resistance #feminism

January 20th

While the False Man blustered, and ranted;
while he mis-used words like great
And made empty promises that hung on the cold air
Like icicles only to melt away like ghosts;
a woman walked across the street to give
Food to a needy neighbor, check on the old
Help a friend with tired and hungry kids
Held a hand and mopped up broken tears
A man paused as he walked, reached into pockets
Walked back a 100 yards to give what little he had
To the man who had even less, and shared a smile
That said, I love you and I see you
A child stood up to the bullies in her class
Because they used words adults have made common
And she shielded the outsider, the smaller
The scared from their anger and their hate.
And millions of hats bobbed up and down as they marched
And millions of banners waved in the night
And millions of candles were held in defiant hand
And chains of love and hope and decency and progress
Were woven again and again and again until
When the Fake Men pushed the vulnerable over the edge
A safety net caught them and a million hands set them
Gently on their feet, to rise again.
